For a pure gaming system that will be playing a range of games or regularly dealing with titles that are known to respond to faster CPUs, the Core iK makes a good case for itself. There are plenty of counter-arguments, of course, such as those that only play a select few games which are more GPU-bound and here CPU choice matters little. Content creation is still a strong point for AMD and this is generally the case across its entire range. The Ryzen 5 X offers much better value in this head-to-head but as I mentioned earlier, while clearly not a six-core CPU, the Ryzen 7 is actually cheaper than the Intel CPU and absolutely wipes the floor with it in multi-threaded tests, so is definitely a better choice if you'll regularly be tapping into all those cores and threads.

We were pleasantly surprised recently when we looked at the Core iU. This was the first demonstration of what Intel can still do on 14nm to squeeze more performance. The U packs six cores and twelve threads into a 15W package. Even though this CPU runs below 2. This is down to Intel optimizing the efficiency point of this CPU.
